Pre-Purchase Inspection in Khalifa City

A pre-purchase inspection is an independent check of a used car before you hand over any money, done wherever the car is: the seller's villa in Khalifa City, a showroom forecourt or a parking bay elsewhere in Abu Dhabi. The technician inspects the body, engine bay, underside as far as can be seen, interior electrics and tyres, scans every control unit for fault codes and drives the car. You get a written report with photos, usually the same day, and a plain opinion on what the car would need.

Where the job is done

At your car. The technician comes to your villa, parking bay, office or the roadside in Khalifa City.

Pre-Purchase Inspection in Khalifa City conditions

Abu Dhabi has a large private used-car market, and Khalifa City sees plenty of it as families relocate and sell in a hurry. Two local risks are worth checking every time: imported cars repaired after being written off abroad, and cars whose cooling and AC have been worn out by years of summer. A pass at the registration test proves the car was roadworthy on the day, not that it is a good buy.

What is included

  • Body check for repaint, filler, panel gaps and signs of accident or flood damage
  • Full fault code scan across engine, gearbox, ABS, airbag and body modules
  • Engine bay check for leaks, coolant condition, belts and hoses
  • Battery and charging test, tyre date codes and brake wear
  • Test drive with AC, gearbox, steering and brakes assessed, then a written report

Signs you need Pre-Purchase Inspection

  • You are buying from a private seller you found online
  • The car is advertised well below similar ones
  • The car is an import, not GCC specification
  • There is no service history, or only a few stamps for many years
  • The seller wants the deal done today and discourages a check

Where the battery comes in

A fresh jump start before a viewing hides a dying battery, and so does a seller who leaves the engine running when you arrive. We test battery health and the alternator as part of every inspection and read the date code, so you know if a car battery replacement is the first thing you will be paying for.

How Pre-Purchase Inspection works

  1. 1

Send the advert and chassis number

Share the listing, the seller's location and the VIN if the seller will give it. That lets the technician look up the specification and known weak points for that model beforehand.

  2. 2

    Cold start and walk-round

We ask the seller not to warm the car up. A cold start shows smoke, rattles and warning lights that vanish once warm. Then every panel is checked for repaint, mismatched shade and uneven gaps.

  3. 3

    Scan, bonnet up, look underneath

All modules are scanned, including a check on fault codes having been cleared just before the viewing. The engine bay is checked for leaks and fresh sealant, and the underside is inspected as far as ground clearance allows for oil, rust and sand damage.

  4. 4

    Drive and report

A test drive covers gearbox shifts, steering, brakes, suspension noise and AC performance. You then get photos, a list of faults by urgency and a plain view on the car, sent on WhatsApp.

Three battery jobs we do at your car in Khalifa City

Most calls end with one of these. The technician tests first, so you only buy a battery when the old one has really failed.

Jump start

Lights left on, or the car sat while you were away for three weeks. We boost it with a protected pack that is safe for modern electronics, then check the battery can still hold a charge.

  • Safe for start-stop and hybrid cars
  • Charging system checked afterwards

Battery testing

A digital tester reads the battery's health, voltage and cranking power in about two minutes. You see the numbers on the screen before anyone talks about a new battery.

  • Battery, starter and alternator
  • Result photographed for you

Battery replacement

The right size and type for your car, brought to you and fitted. Radio and window settings are kept, the old battery goes for recycling and the warranty starts that day.

  • Upto 24 months warranty
  • Old battery taken away free

The Patrol would only click on the morning of the school run. I sent my location on WhatsApp and the technician was at the villa in about half an hour. He tested the old battery first, showed me the reading, then changed it in the driveway.

Came back from three weeks away to a completely dead car. I assumed I needed a new battery, but the technician tested it and said it only needed a jump start and a proper drive. I appreciated not being sold something I did not need.
  • Arjun P.Toyota Camry, Al Rayyana
My Camry was down in the basement at Al Rayyana and I was not sure anyone would come to the bay. The technician left his van in a visitor space and carried the battery and tools down to me. Paid by card and the old battery went with him.

Pre-Purchase Inspection: questions and answers

Do you inspect cars at the seller's home?

Yes, the technician goes to wherever the car is kept, with the seller's agreement. That can be a villa in Khalifa City, a showroom or a car park elsewhere in Abu Dhabi. You do not have to be there, although it helps.

Is the registration test not enough?

No, it answers a different question. The registration test confirms the car meets roadworthiness requirements. It does not tell you about accident repairs, a slipping gearbox, cleared fault codes or upcoming repairs, which is what a pre-purchase inspection is for.

Can you tell if a car has been in an accident?

In most cases, yes. Repainted panels, overspray on rubbers, uneven gaps, non-original bolts on the wings and airbag fault history all leave evidence. We also suggest checking the accident history by chassis number through the official UAE channels.

What about imported cars?

Imports deserve a closer look, not automatic rejection. Some were written off abroad and rebuilt, and non-GCC cars may have cooling and AC systems not built for Gulf summers. We check for structural repair signs and tell you what specification the car is.

What happens if the car fails your inspection?

You get the list of faults and decide for yourself. Some buyers walk away, and others use the report to negotiate or to ask the seller to fix items first. Our job is only to make sure you know what you are buying.
