What decides the price of a car battery?
Two batteries that look alike on a shelf can sit far apart in price for sound reasons. The table lists what moves the figure, and in which direction.

Why do AGM and EFB batteries cost more than flooded batteries?
They cost more because there is more in them. An AGM battery holds its acid in compressed glass mat separators, which lets it recover from deep discharge and accept charge quickly, exactly what a start-stop car asks of it many times a day. EFB is a reinforced flooded design that sits between the two.
The order follows from that: flooded lowest, EFB in the middle, AGM highest, and the lithium low-voltage batteries found in some newer electric cars above all three. The car decides which one you need. Putting a flooded battery in a car built for AGM saves money on the day and usually costs more soon after.
Inside one technology, the price climbs with capacity in amp-hours (Ah), cold cranking amps (CCA) and physical size. A large V8 or a diesel needs a bigger battery than a small petrol hatchback, and pays for the extra lead.
Does my car's make and model change the battery price?
Yes, in two ways. The car dictates the technology and the size, and it also dictates the labour. A battery on top of the engine bay held by two clamps is a quick job, while one in the boot under trim, under a seat or below the floor takes longer and needs care with the vent tube and brackets.
Many German and British cars, and a growing number of others, need the new battery registered or coded with a diagnostic tool so that the charging system treats it correctly. Ask whether that step is included. A quote that leaves it out cannot be compared with one that includes it.
Is mobile battery replacement more expensive than going to a shop?
Not necessarily, once you add up the whole bill. A shop price is for a battery on the counter or fitted in the shop's own bay. Getting a car that will not start to that bay means a jump start, a tow, or a taxi there and back with the old battery in the boot of someone else's car.

Why does the lowest-priced battery often cost more per year in UAE heat?
Because the real cost of a battery is its cost per year of service, and heat shortens the service. Batteries here typically last 2 to 3 years, against 4 to 5 in mild climates. A low-grade battery with a short warranty can fall well short of that in a car parked outdoors in Khalifa City through the summer.
Add what a failure costs: a call-out, a missed school run, a car stuck at the mall at night. Two low-grade batteries in the time one good battery would have lasted is not a saving.

Do night or public holiday call-outs cost more?
