Car battery warranty in the UAE: what it covers and how a claim works
What a car battery warranty in the UAE covers, what it excludes, and how a claim is tested and settled at your door in Khalifa City and Abu Dhabi.
The short answer
A car battery warranty in the UAE covers manufacturing defects for the period written on your invoice. It does not cover damage, misuse, a faulty charging system or a battery flattened by lights left on. Our warranty is upto 24 months depending on brand and battery model, and a battery that tests defective is replaced at your door.

What does a car battery warranty cover in the UAE?
It covers manufacturing defects, meaning a battery that fails inside the warranty period because of how it was built and not how it was used. A cell that shorts internally, an internal connection that breaks, a case that leaks at a seam with no sign of impact: these are defects.
The period depends on the brand and the battery model. Ours is upto 24 months, and the figure that applies to your battery is written on the invoice on the day it is fitted. Read that line before the technician leaves.
What is not covered by a car battery warranty?
A warranty does not cover a failure caused by something outside the battery. The exclusions below are the standard ones.
The last item on the list causes most of the disagreements. A battery drained by an interior light is discharged, not defective. Recharged and tested healthy, it goes back to work and the warranty carries on as before.
- Accident or physical damage, such as a cracked case or a broken terminal
- Misuse of the battery
- Incorrect charging
- A faulty vehicle charging system, where the alternator over-charges or under-charges the battery
- Modifications
- A battery flattened by lights or accessories left on, which needs a recharge, not a replacement
Is my battery problem covered? Common situations
Most claims fall into one of a few patterns. The test result, not the symptom, decides the outcome, which is why the battery and the car's charging system are both measured.
| Situation | Covered? | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Battery fails the test inside the warranty period and the charging system is healthy | Yes | This is what a manufacturing defect looks like |
| Dead cell or internal short with no outside damage | Yes | A build fault inside the battery |
| Flat after headlights or an interior light were left on | No | The battery is discharged, not faulty, and needs a recharge |
| Alternator over-charging or under-charging | No | The car damaged the battery, and the charging fault has to be repaired first |
| Cracked case or bent terminal after an accident | No | Physical damage is excluded |
| Battery charged with the wrong charger or settings | No | Incorrect charging is excluded |
| Battery moved to a different car | No | The battery must be on the same vehicle as the invoice |
| Car parked for weeks and will not start | It depends | A run-down battery is recharged and tested, and only a battery that then fails the test is defective |
| Extra audio, lights or other modifications fitted | It depends | Modifications are excluded, and the test shows whether the battery itself is at fault |
How does a car battery warranty claim work?
With us the claim happens at the car, not at a counter. The steps are short.
Two conditions apply: keep the invoice, and the battery must still be on the same vehicle. The charging system is tested because a faulty alternator will ruin the replacement as surely as it ruined the first battery. On most cars a healthy alternator holds roughly 13.8 to 14.7V at the battery with the engine running, although cars with smart charging move around on purpose.
- Message us with a photo of the invoice and the car's location
- A technician comes to the car
- The battery is tested, and so is the car's charging system
- A defective battery is replaced at the door
- The replacement is covered for the remainder of the original warranty period
What should I ask a battery seller about the warranty before buying?
A number of months on a sticker tells you little. The terms behind the number tell you the rest, and any honest seller can answer these questions in a minute.
- Is it a free replacement for the whole period, or pro-rata, where you pay a share based on the battery's age
- Who tests the battery when there is a claim
- Do I have to bring the car in, or does someone come to the car
- Is the warranty period written on the invoice, with the date and my car's details
- What cover does the replacement battery carry
Does car insurance or roadside assistance cover a dead battery?
Usually it covers a jump start, not a new battery. Motor insurance and roadside plans in the UAE that include breakdown help generally send someone to boost the car or tow it, and the battery itself is treated as a wear item that the owner pays for.
Policies differ, so check yours for the wording on batteries and for how many call-outs you are allowed in a year. If the battery is still inside its own warranty, the claim goes to the battery seller, not the insurer.
Why do warranty terms matter more in Abu Dhabi heat?
Batteries here typically last 2 to 3 years, against 4 to 5 in mild climates. The warranty period therefore covers a much larger share of the battery's working life than it would in Europe, and the small print gets used more often.
It also explains the limit of a warranty. A battery that wears out from age and heat under a Khalifa City carport, after the period on the invoice has passed, was not defective. It lived a normal UAE life.

How long is the warranty on a car battery in the UAE?
It depends on the brand and the battery model, and the period is written on the invoice. With us it is upto 24 months. Ask any seller to show you the exact period for the battery being fitted, not the longest one in the range.
Do I need the invoice to claim a battery warranty?
Yes, keep the invoice. It shows the purchase date, the battery and the vehicle it was fitted to. Taking a photo of it on the day of fitting saves a search through the glovebox later.
Does the warranty start again when a battery is replaced under a claim?
No. The replacement battery is covered for the remainder of the original warranty period, counted from the date on the first invoice.
I left the lights on and the battery went flat. Is that a warranty claim?
No. A battery flattened by lights or accessories needs a jump start or a recharge, not a replacement. If it still fails a test after a proper recharge, message us with the invoice and the technician will test the battery and the charging system at the car.
